FEATURED PROJECT: Boeing Delta IV Launch Table
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Thompson Metal Fab shop fabricated a 580 ton launch table for the Boeing Delta IV project. The launch table measured 98 ft long x 46 ft wide x 33 ft tall. The project included flame deflectors A, B and C. Deflectors A and C weighed 50 tons each while the movable deflector B weighed 120 tons.
The hydraulic and mechanical rocket leveling components were also fabricated and supplied for the project. Leveling components constructed of high strength stainless nitronic, carpenter alloy, and carbon steel materials. All components were tested to verify that under the designated loads, no distortion, cracks, failures, or impaired functionality had occurred in the manufacturing process during assembly.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
-All mechanical, electrical, and water-cooling systems were installed at TMF facility
-TMF supervised the field installation of leveling components at jobsite
-Launch table and deflectors were transported by barge
