Overview

As part of the expansion of Sea-Tac Airport’s International Arrivals Facility, Thompson Metal Fab was selected as the primary steel fabricator for a new pedestrian bridge connecting the satellite terminal to the main terminal. A key challenge was minimizing disruption to airport operations, particularly around the active tarmac that runs directly beneath the structure. TMF’s scope included fabrication of the twin V-piers on both ends of the bridge, as well as the top and bottom box chords for the truss span. The work required precise planning and complex sequencing to ensure proper fit and alignment. The bridge’s center section was fabricated offsite and installed during a tightly controlled, seven-day tarmac closure. The project highlights TMF’s ability to manage highly coordinated installations in logistically sensitive environments.
