Flanges are welded to web plates using submerged arc welding. A pre-heat is required by code prior to welding.
After being completed, girders are moved to assembly area where they are bunked to simulate the actual field dimensions. They will then be trimmed to the proper length and matched drilled in a progressively assembled fashion.
TMF fabricated this railroad bridge & pre-assembled the entire span inside our facilities. It was then broken down & delivered to jobsite for erection.
TMF supplied 10,000-tons of fabricated steel over 3 years for Caltrans Richmond San Rafael Bridge Seismic Retrofit project.
